sunwarrior - Most people understand protein as a nutrient your body must function in a normal, healthy way, that and the fact that you can get it from eating steak. This is correct but definitely not limited to that. It's not only about a nutritious diet and proper nutrition. Protein probably plays one of the greatest parts in the growth and development of a persons anatomy. It is probably the most basic building blocks in our body. The bones for instance are mostly considered to be comprised of calcium but are you aware it's about one-fourth protein? The muscles in our body, our organs and the defense mechanisms are mostly made up of proteins.
PROTEIN BY DEFINITION. Protein came from the Greek word "proteios" that means holding first place. The proteins that people get from the food we eat are converted into different types of molecules. Our muscles, organs and the immune system are mostly comprised of protein. Protein can also be required for building DNA, an inherited code that is unique for everybody. Most of our dry weight (that's the part of body that isn't made from water) consists of protein. The bones (as said before), muscles, tissues and skin are some of these.
BASICS. Specifically, the proteins that people get are made up of some thing basic. They are known as the amino acids. These contain organic compounds like carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen or even sulfur. These organic compounds react to each other to form a bond. This bond or reaction is important for that molecule building as suggested earlier. Moreover, there are over 20 proteins that make up protein.
Of the number there are about 13 amino acids our body can produce on its' own. You do not even need to think about it. However, at least 9 proteins have to be supplemented. These are called essential amino acids. Examples are: Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Selenocysteine, Threonine, Tryptophan and Valine. These are the ones that people want to get from the protein rich food that people take.
vegan protein smoothies - Apart from amino acids, proteins also bond with sugar (usually from carbohydrates), lipids (fats), as well as metal (iron). For example, some organic compounds that interact with iron will form hemoglobin. These are pigments at a negative balance blood cells that are responsible to transport oxygen and remove co2 within the tissues through the bloodstream. Simply put, hemoglobin are proteins that has iron atoms. Protein also serves as a chief ingredient for antibodies. Antibodies included in our immune system help us resist infection by blocking and protecting the body from foreign intruders.
PROTEIN DEFICIENCY. All those being said, insufficient protein can cause a lot of damage throughout a person's body. For just one, it can result in reduced intelligence and mental retardation. Individuals who suffer from Alzheimer's lack specific proteins for that brain. In under developed countries alone, protein-energy malnutrition kills Ten million annually. Protein deficiency is extremely common in poor, overpopulated countries. This is where famine usually occurs which enhances the rate of malnutrition. Developing countries also offers reports of protein deficiency but mostly on adults. Dieting or unhealthy dieting to lose weight is a reason.
sunwarrior - There's a lot more to protein especially when you break it down slowly. One must comprehend the proper utilization of protein to know what role it plays within the human body and the way to use it. It does not end with what's on the dining room table.
