During the Spring, Summer and Fall months, mosquito's often infiltrate the yard. Regardless of what you do, it seems one cannot remove these pesky little annoyances! From spraying disgusting repellents, to piling on layers of garments, they appear to discover their way in somewhere to start probing.

Repel - I am not sure in regards to you, but during these months, I might much rather be outside doing something than feel like I will be stuck inside. Mosquito's put a critical damper in my outdoor activities. Mostly because, I am seriously allergic to their bites. One bite can occasionally increase the size of to the sized the golf ball!

I have tried several repellents and plants which are known to deter mosquito's from coming around because i am outside. I seems, though, that none of them work as well when i would like them to. Here are a few products or plants which can be proven to Repel mosquito's...

Mosquito repellent with Deet: In my opinion, these sprays try to a degree. But only last for a brief period of energy. Not forgetting the fact Deet effects included rashes, skin or mucous membrane irritation, transient numb or burning lips, dizziness, disorientation, and difficulty concentrating. Also, usually these sprays usually do not smell that great, also it just is annoying to need to re-apply the spray over and over again. Just seems like it isn't very cost effective, right?

Citronella Candles: These candles recieve treatment to a certain degree. Some also find the smell of Citronella offensive. When burning these candles though, how's it going to work if the wind is blowing away from the outdoor activities? Rather pointless to my opinion....

Marigolds: Did you know that most insects cannot stand the give an impression of these flowers? Including mosquito's! Marigolds usually are not the most amazing flower in the world and are available in the limited number of colors. Nevertheless the smell is repulsive to mosquito's, aphids and lots of other pesky insects. They actually do a superb job of keeping them. I plant them randomly in my veggie garden to maintain the aphids away. I additionally have had them planted on my small porch to try and keep mosquito's away. But it just doesn't manage to have the desired effect completely.

Avon Skin So Soft: This oil, produced by Avon, has become rave reviews for keeping away mosquito's and flies. We have also tried the product, and delay about plus the sprays that contain Deet. Even horse breeders use it on their horses to keep flies away. The smell just isn't repulsive plus it really does work practically. But, because it is oil based, celebrate your skin feel really greasy. A small investment? Well maybe...however i only want to enjoy the outdoors without lathering myself on top of products like this.

Catnip: Here is the stuff that cats will go crazy over....literally! But mosquito's hate it. They cannot stand it, in reality, it is known that catnip is significantly more efficient than Deet. However it generally seems to me, that whether you have the plant, or simply a random bowl than it just sitting around...is every cat within the neighborhood or beyond planning to come meowing at the door? Uncertain if I desire to risk that....

Mosquito Traps: Now mosquito traps, Personally i think, will be the approach to take. Some are superior to others. Some, are more Environmentally friendly than these. For example, some traps require the utilization of propane. I truly do not believe remains safe and secure. Propane is extremely flammable. Have one of these simple traps near a camp fire? That would not safe. Or, the odor of propane...not pleasant. Also releasing toxic fumes into the environment will not seem all that safe either. Some traps, however don't require propane. Some, possess the optional utilization of Co2, which can be completely safe for the environment.

So, all of these products or plants, all have their own value. There is also their disadvantages, like most things do. But maybe, just maybe, using Mosquito traps in conjunction with a few these plants would have the desired effect greatly! I myself possess a trap looking at my front porch today. I personally use it there with no plants, and using no other products. I will take a seat on my front porch and possess minimal difficulties with mosquito's. It draws them in, and kills them, keeping the offending articles from me forever. And keeping me protected from the diseases that mosquito's carry.
